Teukie’s Comments on 15/7 Radio Star

Almost three years since he declared on ‘Strong Heart’ that he would be shedding singledom prior to enlistment, we now find out from JungSu as to how that grand plan of his panned out. Funnily enough, a glance at one of my past posts primed me to the fact that Yoo YeonSuk was the one reacting to Teukie’s ambitions (‘Warm and Cozy’!!) but I digress.

This is a translation of a translation hence the sentence structure of some parts have been changed to make for easier reading. And while I tried to stick as closely as I could to the original meaning, there might have been slight deviations where i did not intend, so please do bear these in mind while reading.

Anyway, this was JungSu’s reasoning for picking the song ’I Believe’ for SuJu’s performance (or lack thereof) on ‘Radio Star’. Note that the theme was ‘The song that I would sing for the bad woman that made me cry’.

Through Americano, I trust…

So Teukie’s mom apparently told one of my fellow sisters in fandom that Americano has been his drink of choice since he entered the army. Call me biased but I somehow doubt that slogging through simulated trench warfare (or similar) had anything to do with it. I must say though that Teukie has changed and/or matured quite a lot over the last two years (his lack of a return to the dormitory room that he had clung on to as ‘home’ being the most obvious sign), and I think that personal tragedy had a lot to do with it.

Now that he is back, I should probably go resurrect my hacked-and-therefore-deleted Twitter account as well…

MBC! WTH!?

Two hours after the episode aired and I thought I had gotten over it after having railed on Twitter and ranting to Mieru via Whatsapp as well. I even thought that no, maybe I should wait for the subs to emerge before saying anything further since my listening comprehension isn’t all that spectacular. But after getting dinner and having had the time to sit and think for a bit, I think that it is imperative that I let the steam all out before I burst at the seams.

Seriously MBC. WHAT is your problem?? Today’s episode was so good for our couple and you had to go ruin it by throwing in that crap excuse of a circus sideshow with WooJung. If I am going to give WooJung the benefit of the doubt that they would not be so evil on their own as to even THINK of stealing Dimple House from TeukSo on their own, guess who is left to blame? That’s right MBC. YOU!!!

YOU!! How could you even allow a plot-line with the possibility of TeukSo losing Dimple House?? That house is TeukSo’s!! WooJung are supposed to have their own house and they HAD their own house!! If you want to reduce them to living out of a camping car, that is YOUR problem and WooJung’s! WHY do you have to involve TeukSo?? WHY??

And YOU!! WOOJUNG!! I actually like the both of you individually so I was really quite appalled with what was shown on today’s broadcast! It was a classic demonstration of what it takes to be at the peak of horrendously BAD social behavour! You were like the relatives from hell that some of us spend 363 days in a year praying HARD over to develop spontaneous bouts of amnesia so that they not visit during Christmas and New Year!

YOU!! You covetous pair!! You have A LOT of guts showing up at Dimple House the way you did! Not only did you persist in going to TeukSo’s, at half past ten in the night, plotting to challenge them out of their abode, you went ahead with the ‘visit’ despite Teukie calling EunJung back to ask that you make the trip on another day because they were tired and thinking of calling it a day already. They even greeted you at the door in their pajamas! Pajamas!! They were ready for bed and you two clowns still showed up!

And YOU!! Showing up at that sort of an hour aside, you proceeded to not only inspect the house but even sat yourselves on the host couple’s bed! TEUKSO’S BED!! Excuse me, but have you not been taught that it is just plain RUDE to plonk yourself onto someone else’s bed? And it was a bed that these poor people were all dressed for, all ready to rest in till YOU showed up! It’s not like either of you are DongHae who’s a brother, and even his resting on their bed was already appalling! Teukie didn’t even want you in their bedroom but you just barged in nonetheless for a tour! YOU!! You were just plain intruding and on behalf of my Teukie and his Sora, I take MUCH offense at that!

But truly. Nothing. Absolutely NOTHING beats just how annoyed I am at MBC even allowing WooJung to challenge TeukSo for the possession of Dimple House. If WooJung was pushed to do it, then whoever it is that is responsible for this farce in MBC? YOU! You deserve to have poop RAINED on your head by a flock of incontinent fowl! And WooJung! If you wanted to do this on your own accord then the both of you deserve to live out the rest of your married life with nothing else but a cereal box for shelter!

KEEP YOUR PAWS TO YOURSELF AND OFF DIMPLE HOUSE AND LEAVE MY TEUKIE AND HIS SORA ALONE!! ALL OF YOU!!

*ANGRY!!*

The photoshoot is not the end of the road

To be honest, I was, one of those, that felt a chill creep into the deepest recesses of my heart when I heard that TeukSo had gone for a wedding photoshoot because, like it or not, history has had it that couples on WGM left the show within weeks of the shoot. But the more that I chewed on it, the more I figured that this does not necessarily mean that it is the end of the road for TeukSo.

For one, Teukie, at least, has been open with how he actually likes being on the programme. Well. Not quite worded as directly as that, but he has protested against allegations of the programme being cancelled during the Dark Void. And with how Teukie is about work, if we are going to take this purely from a work point of view, I do not think that he is going to let this one run away that soon, especially since that means the possibility of free time for him and he has resolved (for better or worse) to break his back working all the way till he enlists.

That and there is Teukie’s introduction to Sora’s parents at the photoshoot itself. I have watched and followed a number of couples on WGM, and unless it was those that I skipped over watching, I do not recall having couples meet parents shortly before break-ups. It just does not make sense. If they were really moving to take them off-air, I do not think that her parents would have appeared this late into the game, IF the game was really coming to an end. No matter how I look at it, there is no need to add to an equation that is a lost cause. You only add to it if there is value to the addition. Bringing extra people in means more work (and stress) for the crew too, so I honestly do not think that people are going to bother themselves with dealing with extras if TeukSo was going to end their run soon.

That said, TeukSo’s run IS going to end and pretty soon as well because of Teukie’s looming military duties. But I have faith that if Teukie is going to make an exit, he is going to do it on his own terms. And if I take this in light of his recent comments, it will not be till Enlistment Day.

Chin up folks! Tis all not over till the fat lady sings! ^^

Teukie’s Comments on 10/7 Strong Heart

Once again our JungSu has opened his mouth to spill jewels sending all (even me, who is usually one of the most calm and rational), into a whooping frenzy. Well, the type of frenzy will depend on which side of the ‘oppa should or should not have a girlfriend’ fence you are on, but as all can tell, I am totally with the “go get attached already!” camp so that is moot. But I digress.

Very quick gripe

This sounds terribly selfish in light of the ongoing strike but…

MBC!! Why is it that you have the manpower to go film Super Junior in Paris but have no manpower for WGM?? Would it kill you to have brought Sora along?? I demand that you pack TeukSora off to their deserted island right this instant!!

Actually no. Scratch that. I demand that you pack TeukSora off to their deserted island this instant with a camera and a tripod. They can selca like the pros they are so they don’t even need the staff that you don’t have!!

No. Wait. Even with that thought, I’m still annoyed that you could scrape together the staff to do a SuJu in Paris special but cannot do anything else (read: no more Radio Star either). That is such bullshit!!

MBC!! You let my Teukie meet his Sora now you stupid station with irritating double standards you!!!

Whatsyourface!! You hurry up and resign already you useless stick in the mud!! My Teukie is going to enlist soon!! We have no time to sit around and wait for you to play political games!!

GROWL!!!! MBC!!!!!

*shakes fist, kicks and throws things*

Okay. Now I feel a wee bit better.

Blessed Easter everybody!! ^^

About strikes

Just learnt today that Korean labour laws are such that even if you go on strike, you continue to be paid as if you were working. So it means that nobody in MBC is going back to work because he or she is feeling particularly lean in the pockets, because they are still being paid every day/month/year that they are on strike. Which means that this could go on for an eternity till Kim Whatshisface decides to call it a day!

Interesting. Let’s just hope that whatshisface calls it a day before the government calls Teukie then.

Dilly*Dally – The ‘Group Date’ Bakery (A Follow-Up)

Remember this? That particular branch of Dilly*Dally apparently has some new signage up trumpeting their role in Fighting Junior’s blind date! (Photo credits as tagged!)

My only gripe is this: Did they HAVE to use a cap of HyukJae giving that mobile in a cake box to EunSeo?? Granted, the cake box was the bakery’s but still… -_-

I shall endeavour to go check the place out myself next month! Wish me luck!! ^^

About the MBC strike

So news from the grapevine has it that MBC has said that the TeukSora x HaeSeo* group date will be aired on both 10 and 17 March. Like most TeukSora fans, I was happy that WGM resumed regular broadcast this last weekend (and what a good episode it was!). That was until I read that the PDs and crew working on MBC’s stable of airing dramas would be joining in the strike as well. I had been under the impression that the situation was getting better since WGM resumed broadcast but this, apparently, was not the case since things have just gotten worse.

For me, it is good that I get to see TeukSora after such a long while and I really do appreciate that short but really sweet episode that aired on Saturday afternoon. On the other hand, I feel quite bad that someone had to have given in to the arm-twisting by MBC for WGM to air. This feeling, in particular, arose when I read about how MBC had been making use of the success of its dramas to put down the strikes. It was this that made me realise just how important it was to MBC to have a popular variety like WGM resume regular broadcast because it firstly supports the facade that the labour strike was not as big an issue as it seemed. The resumption of WGM’s broadcast also enforces a feeling of false security for both investors and viewers alike, that things will be back to normal soon and that will help buoy sales and advertising revenue for MBC, both which I am sure have been affected negatively by the strike.

I do not know much about the problems within MBC that are causing the strike, but I think I can safely say that they have to be pretty serious to the members of the staff if these strikes are taking place on an annual basis. And to have the drama PDs join in as well now. That says A LOT especially if it is true that MBC has been making use of the performance of the dramas to hit back at the staff that have been on strike since January.

The upside to this is that the crew behind ‘The Moon That Embraces The Sun’ is part of the team that is joining the strike and MoonSun is THE best performing drama that MBC has had in a while. This might mean that a real end is in sight for the labour strike since MBC would be feeling more pressured to let MoonSun continue its winning run right till the end. As we saw with WGM, a strike does impact ratings so it would only benefit MBC to let MoonSun finish its run unaffected. On the other hand, if MBC stubbornly refuses to budge, I am afraid that we might be looking at no more TeukSora again very soon.

I honestly feel bad because going on strike is not an easy decision for any employee to make because you are directly attacking the hand that feeds you and your family. To give up on the strike and head back to work while your peers are still holding their ground is an even harder decision to make since it primarily makes you look like a traitor to everyone else. It is also an issue of putting down your pride to give up on something that you believe in, and in Asian societies like ours, both pride and how others view us as individuals, are REALLY big things. So it must have been really difficult for whoever it is to give up on the strike and head back to work because of all the repercussions tied to it.

I am not so noble to say that as a viewer, I am going to take a stance against bullying and the abuse of power by not watching WGM as it airs while the strike goes on. As a foreign viewer living outside MBC’s realm, what I choose to watch or not watch has no  immediate and direct impact anyway. As cheesy as this sounds, I will, however, have it in mind to be more thankful for each episode that airs during the strike. Someone in MBC is making sacrifices to do the work while the others continue to fight for what they all feel is right. This person (or persons) will be doing A LOT more than what he/she is usually required to do since everyone else is on strike and I think for that alone, he/she is fully worthy of thanks.

That aside, I hope that somebody in MBC wakes up soon and does something substantial and positive to end the strikes once and for all because this sort of thing really does nobody any good.

* I had typed ‘EunHae’ before it occurred to me as to just how blasphemous that would be especially in light of what EunSeo did to ‘get’ DongHae. Hence ‘HaeSeo’ it shall be.

Quick note on DH2

Own opinion but I think that HaeSung is going to say no, not because she does not feel for JB but because she is unselfish enough to not want him to torpedo his career because of her.

Am expecting a time jump to happen soon where Rian will be supporting YooJin in his rock star endeavors, where they are in a situation where they are together but not quite together. And of course, where HaeSung has gotten to a point where she can finally accept JB. Yes, I love JB x HS! ^^

With only five episodes left in the bag, I hope that they use the time to tie up all the loose ends and mess that was created in the first half of the drama. I know I will be throwing a fit if they attempted to do a U-turn on anything at this point in time. As it is, they have already wasted so much airtime in the first four weeks.

And before I log out of this app, JinMan and JiSoo should totally get together. Imagine the kind of dancing that their kids could do!!

Anyway, think this is about as much as I will write on DH2 for now. Will do more post drama coz I actually prefer doing that. That and yes, I have a mountain of other things to finish…

Argh!! So many things to do, so little time even with the additional day in February this year!!

PS: This post also makes it twice that I am posting via the WordPress app. I think I will avoid using this unless I really have to. Tis quite a pain to format on this thing especially when you are code-challenged like me. T_T
