Thanks to the MBC strike and the drought of new WGM episodes, there is a bit of time for me to go back and catch up on writing on older TeukSora episodes that I did not get to write about. I initially thought of working backwards but I figured that since I have the time, that I might as well work from the very first episode since I would be rewatching everything all over again anyway. So here is the first of the result of that ‘working backwards’ that I am doing. With any luck, I will get derailed from doing this very soon when the strike is over but till then, I shall endeavor to catch up as much as I can.
Since it is ‘dry season’ now, I figured that I would take the chance to work backwards and cover those things that I always wanted to talk about but could not coz I was either busy or away, and one of those things was this, Sora’s call into ‘ShimShimTaPa’.
Hours after this call came about, I had to go catch a flight to Okinawa so I watched a recording of the broadcast sans subs while enroute to the airport in a cab. Even without subs on a tiny screen, the happiness that Teukie radiated was simply blinding. Actually, ‘happy’ does not even begin to describe the feeling that he was reflecting on his face. ‘Ecstatic’ probably comes a lot closer. But yes, Park seobang was a VEEEEEERY happy camper that night!
This expression and stance of HyukJae’s is probably the best representation of the past weekend. Truly. It was a REALLY BAD weekend to be a HyukJae fangirl. I had so much to say that I ended up not knowing what to say (and am still in a mess over how to say what I want to say) such that I just spent all my time after the broadcast ended watching and re-watching the group date in its entirety over and over again. And each time I would end up screaming at him through the latter half of the broadcast. But ah well. The pitfalls of being a fan. You shriek at him in pique and ire when he is making an absolute ass out of himself but still love him after the sound of that last scream of frustration has faded away. Such is the irrationality of it all. Thankfully the whole hullabaloo has since died down and no, fangirl-ism was not what I wanted to talk about.
My initial thought over the Fighting Junior group date was that it would run along the lines of that which Ssangchu had between SS501 and the Wonder Girls, ie everybody sits to share a meal, exchange a bit of information about themselves and their interests, play a few games. Same sort of a thing, just a little (??) rowdier coz it is, after all, a group date involving SuJu boys. And it pretty much turned out that way, just that I did not expect them to make it into an entire variety within a variety, complete with a show title, slogan, etc. Which, to my mind, was where the whole problem lay coz that took away the reality aspect of the programme and made it fully into a variety.
So there has been A LOT of hoo-ha over Hyuk making Sena cry in Episode 14 of WGM and as expected, the first to speak up for him were his brothers.
In fact, Teukie’s tweet appeared almost immediately after the broadcast ended but got deleted shortly after. I made my guess over why in an earlier posting so shall not go into it here.
Translation : Scripted or not, whatever it is, it seems like I can’t do variety shows from now on hyungㅋㅋ What’s the point of being funny, when I became a complete asshole…ㅜㅜ
Translation : What do you mean, asshole~ You worked so hard, didn’t you!!! I wouldn’t have been able to survive if you hadn’t been there!!! That hardworking look that’s overflowing with passion!!! Everyone said they watched because of you~^^ Don’t worry about it, your grasp and feel of variety is really the best!! Whoever dares to say anything, bring them to me!!!
Translation : No, no matter how I look at it, I was an asshole ㅋㅋㅋㅋ But of course, the best chemistry goes to EunTeuk!!!!!! As expected, everything I do together with Hyung makes me feel the most comfortableㅋㅋㅋ
Translation : You’re shouldering the rifle, right!!! If it had been scripted we would all be nice people. “Wah~ I’m happy~^^” Does it just end like this? That only happens in fairy tales, right? This is a group blind date on a variety show, man~ You did well!!! Don’t be disheartened!! You’re the best^^ Hyung is envious of you~^^ㅋㅋ
Translation : It’s because you’re popular that’s why they’re like this~^^ World anchovy!!! Fighting until you finish tomorrow’s last musical!!
Translation: Hyung overheard the PD-nims around us saying that our members’ variety sense is overflowing~^^ Let’s continue to work hard in future too!!! EunTyroneㅋㅋ Congratulations on the final performance of your musical being sold-out!!!
Translation: What do you mean by asshole~ No! It was really interesting~^^ The broadcast was salvaged because of you, alright.. I want to do well like you too~ EunTyrone congratulations on your last performance^^
Translation: If you have a problem with anything, please ask me directly or throw your stones at me directly. Since it was a situation that was brought about through my prompting, and since the artists involved were only doing their best to play along to that situation, instead of judging who is a bad person or who is a kind person, I would be grateful if you could just enjoy the broadcast~^^ Everything is my fault, that the matter has blown up~
I will refrain from commenting as of now. Will do so later in another post. Need to think for a bit first…

So this week we start off with a quick recap of what happened last week before the girls start demonstrating their respective talents.
Think EunSeo was demonstrating the use of some dialect while Sena said that coz she’s bad in aegyo she had been practicing using the Korean word game/ rhyme thing. It’s the one where one says something and with the last word of that sentence, create another one using that as the sentence’s first word. She picked HyukJae as her partner for demonstration.
I don’t really understand all of it, but I could understand/catch ‘bear’ and where there are bears involved, there is bound to be cuteness!
‘Because I have the heart, body, mind and soul of a foodie, I am putting aside everything to touch on the place that Fighting Junior had their group date in. In light of the fact that one still has SEVERAL half-written posts about everything else that has happened over the course of the last two months (urk!!), one shall endeavour to keep this short and relatively sweet. One, however, cannot promise that this will be painless. This is, afterall, a post concerning food. Unless you happen to not like food then that is a totally different issue.
This all started out because I caught a glimpse of the floormats that TeukSora were trodding on when they entered the bakery. MBC’s editing room was being sloppy as usual so they covered up the name of the bakery here but not there. Anyway, this is MBC and we know how they can (not) work so…
So some sections of ELFdom are up in arms because Sora set up a group date for Fighting Junior. And Sora’s own Twitter account is being bombarded by fans who are, to put it mildly, highly against the part that she played in getting ‘their men’ involved with other women. Honestly, I find the Sora-bashing sigh-worthy and totally ridiculous.
For one, the boys were the ones that requested for a group date. If you want specifics, HyukJae was the one that came up with it. Now why didn’t anybody go run after Myeolchi’s skinny bum then to ask as to where in that compact frame of his did he get the guts to go ask for a group date on national television, especially when he’s an idol and (apparently) exclusive property to his fans only?
That aside, given that the date request was a request made in exchange for favours done, I do not see how anybody, in possession of a basic, common sense of courtesy, can say ‘no’ especially if he/she was the one that asked for favours to be done. Sora asked Fighting Junior for a favour. Fighting Junior asked her to set up a group date for them in exchange. Fighting Junior delivered. Sora delivered. It was as simple as that. Why should she be shot for it? I would, in fact, be more concerned if she promised but did not deliver coz then she would have been stringing the boys along with empty promises, which to me, is a hundred times more heinous a crime than helping them expand their social circle at their request.
Even if Sora had been mindful of the fact that fans would be pissed and really wanted to quietly sidestep the whole thing, SungMin came up to remind her and asked her about it when he made his guest appearance on the WGM Year End Special. Now, if somebody reminded you on national television that you promised them something and have yet to act on it, I don’t know about you, but I would definitely make it a point to haul arse and make sure it gets done soonest possible. Best if within the next hour to keep further potential embarrassment at a minimal!
My bottomline to the whole matter, is really this: They asked her to do something. She did it. And from the preview, they seemed happy. And to me, NOTHING matters more than them being happy. So there!
Thanks to crappy weather and the resulting feeling of general lethargy, I found myself sitting at home today watching, for the first time ever, ‘We Got Married’ on ‘live’ stream. And I tell you, as a TeukSo fan, it was well worth it! I consider myself lucky that the iMBC was not laggy but being a stream, there is a lot of compromise in quality for audio/visual.
In any case, here is a quick summary of the episode using notes that I made during the ‘live’ stream. I might be ‘off’ on some spots but most of it is here.
That is what I think at least because during the time that EunTeuk were making their final appearance on ‘Sukira’ as the show’s main hosts, this tweet appeared:
Translation : Thank you! Love you! [I am] Happy
If my guess is spot on and she was really referring to ‘Sukira’ then I am happy for 1 and 2 that they have yet another person in the stable who appreciates their time on the show.
Teukie, please continue being nice to Sora!
HyukJae ah, stop being such a monkey at her!
♥ Lee HyukJae! ♥ Park JungSu! ♥ We love you!! ♥
The night of 4 December 2011 is a sad one because tonight marks the first time that I got to watch TVXQ ‘live’ but it was a shrunken 2 out of 5. It is doubly sad that tonight is also the last time that my 1 and 2 are hosting ‘Sukira’.
5 years and 3 months. That is how long it has been. To be honest, somewhere at the back of all of our heads, we knew that it was only a matter of time before HyukJae and Teukie had to pass the hosting baton on to someone else mainly because of mandatory military service. But when the news broke, it was still heartbreaking.
5 years and 3 months.
I missed tuning into a ‘live’ stream of their final broadcast tonight because of TVXQ and was planning on grabbing a recording when I got home. But after learning off RyeoWook’s tweet that HyukJae cried, I don’t think I will do that. Not so soon anyway. I don’t think I will be able to bear seeing/hearing HyukJae cry over leaving ‘Sukira’.
5 years and 3 months.
Like HyukJae, I am finding this whole thing very surreal. It is a little hard to believe that the next time I tune in or even read about ‘Sukira’, both he and Teukie will not be the ones that I hear or see, and my head has yet to get around to the fact that this arrangement will be a permanent one.
5 years and 3 months.
SungMin and RyeoWook will be taking over fully from now and imo, they have an extremely large pair of shoes to fill. But I have faith that they will do just fine. As Teukie said, this is not an ‘end’ but ‘and’. I wish MinWook all the best and will continue to support ‘Sukira’. But for now, here are some screencaps of the ‘Sukira’ iPhone app while it still features EunTeuk in it.
